At 24, Shafiqa Iqbal, a native of Sadiqabad who worked as a data engineer in Lahore, was employed by Google through Linkedin. Currently, she works at Google’s office in Warsaw, Poland.
Shafiqa, a graduate of the University of Punjab, was involved in open source projects such as data engineering blogs while working as a data engineer, a rapidly growing field globally.
She worked as a top salesperson at Upwork while representing Pakistan as a Global Ambassador for Women in Tech. She had backend development, database migrations and development, ETL pipelines, cloud solutions, and logic programming expertise. Previously, she worked creating and delivering scalable solutions for businesses around the world.
Prior to a LinkedIn post from Google, she had about 2.5 years of experience. Google eventually hired her after a rigorous interview process, and she got the opportunity to work at Google’s Warsaw office in Poland.

In an interview with prominent Pakistani YouTuber Junaid Akram aka GanjiSwag, who visited Shafiqa’s Google office in Warsaw, Poland, Shafiqa says companies like Google and Facebook value open source work. Furthermore, she claimed that while there is a huge potential of young people in Pakistan, people are unaware of the recruitment process as Google does not have a physical presence there like an office.
Shafiqa said graduates from other countries already aim to be employed by the Big Five companies and start preparing for competitions and internships as soon as they graduate. This is why Pakistan is slow to get hired by top companies like Google.
Shafiqa also declared her desire to be self-sufficient, so she picked the field and worked her way up to a top company like Google.
Recruitment process
Unfortunately, the internet wasn’t working for her last interview with Google, as she recalled. When the interviewer asked him questions during closing statements, the meeting was interrupted due to a poor internet connection. Fortunately, the interviewer seemed indifferent to the question, saying that no one should undermine any talent and that Shafiqa is the perfect candidate to be employed by Google.
With the help of the exposure she now gains working at Google’s Polish office, Shafiqa intends to make Pakistan proud in the future by succeeding in her profession and pursuing opportunities with other companies. prestigious technologies.
